Land of the peaceful dragon

Day 1: Arrive Paro International Airport

Upon arrival at Paro International airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative and the tour guide will receive and escort you to designated Hotels in Paro or Thimphu depending on the Final Itinerary that may be agreed upon.

The drive to Thimphu - world’s smallest capital takes about an hour on a well paved two lane road that follows Paro River downstream to the confluence with Wang Chu (Thimphu River). The 60 kms road then turn upstream towards Thimphu along the Wang Chu. Check in at the designated hotel in Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu - Sightseeing

We will start our sightseeing tour visiting Memorial Chorten built in memory of the 3rd King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck who reigned the Kingdom from 1952-1972. Visit the National Library where ancient manuscripts are preserved. Further, we will visit the Zorig Chusum - 13 Arts & Crafts Institute where traditional arts and crafts are still kept alive. The visitors can see students of different trades at work like: Sculpting, Thanka Painting, Wood Carving and other skills.

Afternoon visit to the Textile Museum, Handicrafts Emporium, Crafts Bazaar where Bhutanese textiles and other arts and crafts are displayed and can be purchased. In the evening free for a leisure walk to explore Thimphu city - the world’s smallest capital and the only capital city where Traffic Lights are absent. The walk around the city is easy and would be enjoyable to experience the Bhutanese way of life.

Day 3: Thimphu to Trongsa

Today after breakfast you will drive to Trongsa, the central Bhutan. En-route you will cross Dochula pass(3116m), Wangdue and Pele la pass(3390m). overnight in Trongsa.

Day 4: Trongsa to Bumthang

In the morning after breakfast visit Trongsa dzong, built in 1648 and the ancestral home of Royal families. Then later visit Ta dzong (Heritage museum) and drive to Bumthang. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 5: Bumthang

This beautiful valley is home to some of the oldest temples and monasteries. It offers you hiking opportunities to the many temples in the valley. The sightseeing is; Jakar dzong built in 1549, Jambay Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built by Tibetan king Songtsen Goempo, kurjey Lhakhang a temple dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava who have said to meditated here in 8th century. Tamshing lhakhang,built by Terton pema lingpa in 1501 the ancestor of Royal families, kencho sum lhakhang and the Me bar tsho( the burning lake). Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 6: Bumthang to Gangtey Goemba/ Phobjikha

Today after breakfast you will drive to Phobjikha valley in wangdue. The valley is known as the winter home of endangered birds the black necked cranes which migrates from Tibetan plateau in winter to escape the harsh winter. These birds can be seen from early November to end of March. Overlooking the valley is the Gangtey goemba that dates back to the 17th century. Overnight at Phobjikha valley.

Day 7: Gangtey Goemba/Phobjikha to Punakha

Today you will explore the valley and visit Gangtey Goemba temple, then you will drive towards Punakha valley. Then after lunch visit Punakha dzong built in 1637, and the former capital of Bhutan until 1955. which is located in between two rivers –pho chu and mo chu, and Chimi Lhakhang the temple of fertility dedicated to the Devine madman Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 8: Punakha to Paro

Drive back to Paro and en-route visit Semtokha dzong the first dzong of Bhutan built in 1629. Then in paro visit Drugyel dzong (ruin), and kyichu lhakhang one of 108 temples built by Songtsen Goenpo (Tibetan king). Overnight in Paro.

Day 9: Paro (Excursion to the Tiger’s nest temple)

Today you will do a day excursion to the Tiger’snest, the hightlights of the tour; it is one of the most sacred places in Bhutan that is perched on the side of a cliff at the height of 900m above paro valley. The hike up will take about 3 -4 hours. Later rests of the day walk around the Paro town and take rest.overnight in Paro.

Day 10: Paro - International Airport

The guests will be Seen Off by a Representative of our company and the Tour Guide at the Exit Gate. Wish Bon Voyage!!!
